Creepella and I LOVE these stamps. They're pricey and they come unmounted, shipping (from Canada) is quite a lot but oh my - these are great images, they lend themselves for some fun Copic coloring and they are a hoot!!! Slightly sick, a bit twisted and definitely dark - say, that's right up our alley......

This was Creepella's main b-day card and I love every minute of making it!!

The only thing that I'm disappointed with in this card - you can't see the little paw-print border that's punched through some B&T at the top. Heidi gave me this set of stamps for my b-day and I've finally used some of the stamps! Loads of different styles of cats - perfect for all of my kitty-loving friends.

Another card using CTMH's retired "More to Adore". Some consultants would NEVER post a card using retired items but since I'm more about the card (let's face it, I'm definitely not pushing my business), I want to use whatever I have available and am in the mood for...what can I say, I'm complicated that way!

The only thing that's stamped is the sentiment and that row of swirly flowers making a border.

Another tiny card!! Love this little monster.......he looks like he knows how to have fun. Stamped him on B&T paper and white CS and then just the top of him on white CS again, layered the B&T body onto the white CS and cut out the eyes from the partially stamped image on white CS.

Scraps made up the banner and just a small square of B&T finished the card.

Hope you all are having a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Here's the little card I sent out to a few peeps....photo is pretty crappy and isn't a cat scratching post the perfect backdrop for a Thanksgiving Day card....(can you tell I'm sitting on the couch?) - but I'm being lazy and I don't want to get up. Found this "telescoping" card over at Splitcoasters a while ago and it was so neat-O looking I had to try it. It's quite fun to make although making several of them is pretty time-consuming even though the stamp images are fairly small for coloring purposes. Hopefully all of the recipients understood how the card worked!

Just got done purchasing a few stamps (love those Black Friday online deals!) - and I have a question: if you get a specific stamp to make a specific card for someone specific...........it's not like you're getting the stamp for YOURSELF, right???

Do You Remember....?

For all you CTMH fans out there........do you remember THIS B&T paper??? What's it called?? Do you remember, do you??

I was flipping through some paper packs and this popped up - I must confess.....I had FORGOTTEN all about it!! Actually that was pretty cool because I was completely delighted with it all over again!

Like so many of CTMH's B&T (decorative) papers it's so pretty on its own you really don't need to add much to it to have yourself a lovely finished card or scrapbook layout. The stamping was fast and easy, a handful of Copics added little pops of color and that was pretty much it. I love the look that stamping the sentiment over an image gives - I don't do it often enough.

Using a couple of b-day gifties from Heidi.........man, I just LOVE this set and these Nestabilities. A double-winner!!

I've learned a few things during my blogging break. So I'll try to keep that in mind from here on out!

Here's a card submission that was REJECTED a few months ago (took a while to lick my wounds....sigh.....). Kind of forgot about it but during a fit of tidying, I found it!!

Easy card.....crank a panel of colored CS through the Cuttlebug, stamp the sentiment on a scrap piece of CS, wrap a bit o' ribbon around, foam-mount the sentiment panel on the already-adhered Cuttlebug embossed panel and Ta-Dahhhhh......you're done!

A swing card - I hardly ever remember to make these cards and they so fun and EASY. Not a whole lot to tell.......hmmm, I used an egg cookie cutter as a template...........I love the squiggle corners embossing folder (not sure if I've ever used it before). Even after all these years, I still love those PrintWorks stamps (wondeful font!). The Cosmo Cricket B&T (Pixie something) worked wonderfully well for the decorative "egg".

Ok, it might LOOK like a card for a kid, but really it was made specifically for a young man very nearly in his 20's.....but geeez, I've known him since forever (literally), so I think I've got some wiggle room in making a goofy card for him once in a while. While the 3 mini-envelopes on the front of the card have fun tickets, the mini-envelope INSIDE the card had the cash (and was most likely the best envelope in Sean's opinion....). I'm pleased that I'm still remembering to use those cool embossing folders and it was nice to use some OLD tools that I have hidden (stamp-edged Fiskars)....man, I think the blue twine has to be about 7 years old!! While I like it.....it's a tad bit "sweeter" than is my usual taste.....I love tiny little stamps - Heidi has always said I can make a card with a 1-inch stamp (I think she's right!!). I needed to make several thank you cards and I re-discovered the paisley embossing folder in my bucket of embossing folders the day before and what goes perfectly with paisley?? Why yes indeed, strawberries of course - everyone knows that. Breaking out those handy-dandy Paper Smooches stamps (yes, again...I tell you they inspire so many ideas there's simply not enough hours in the day to get all of the cards made!), and I decided it was a perfect time to utilize those FREE digi-stamps too.

Made the digi-shamrock oh so tiny - just a wee thing - so it would fit inside the Monster, a couple of printing trial and errors later we were good to go. A bit of background stamping on the Kraft panel and the MS grass border adds some interest. The sentiment is also part of this month's digi-offering, printed it on some old, old, old CTMH B&T paper and got busy with some punches.....popped out the sentiment panel with some foam tape and we've got a card!!

2 Baaaaaad Girls

Don't be fooled by them sitting in a "Berry Good" box.................it's a lie - a falsehood.
We'd tried to tell them they don't quite fit in the boxes - they're cats, they don't listen.

Bad Girl #1 - Iris............she's mean, she's grumpy, her normal personality? Annoyed. She's quite often the B-word.....sure she might LOOK cute but looks are deceiving...... Right now she's helping Creepella mit Deutsch..............as you can see she finds it a wee bit borrrrrrring.

Bad Girl #2 - Lily.....she's generally sweeter than her evil sister Iris but she refuses to use any of the three scratching posts/devices we've offered and thinks EVERYTHING in the house is her scratching post. Creepella says she's got the perfect head to kiss. I keep suggesting that after she's dearly departed, we mount her head (like the House Elves in the Black Household) - then she can kiss it all she wants.

No matter what - we love them both (I could squeeze them so hard, I'd make their eyes pop!).

Hmmm, I don't even remember when I saw Julie's card and it's probably not a TOTAL rip-off, but it's pretty darned close!!

I've always loved A Must Stamps (even before I knew they were A Muse stamps) - now I hear they're going to sell their products through Home-Based Parties (i.e. CTMH & Stampin' Up). I'm not quite sure how I feel about that - it will be weird NOT to see them on the shelves of my LSS or to browse online. I'm not one to have "parties" (not even stamp parties) and quite frankly, most of my stamping buddies are in the same financial situation as me so there's not a whole lot of money to be spent in one fell swoop at a stamp party (even an A Muse stamp party!).

I'm lucky I've been able to amass quite a collection of A Muse stamps and products over the last 5 years and I hope they'll tide me over for a good long while.

Irish Blessing Stitching Stuff

I love these colors - both on the ring but especially stitched on khaki linen. While the khaki is darker than the stitched sample, I think it gives the whole project more weight (plus I seem to have a ton of khaki).

After I've completed all of the sentiment (ick - backstitched WORDS), I'll post a photo. Surprisingly enough, it's stitching up quicker than I expected. Doubt it will be completed for St. Patty's Day but that's not to important..............completing it THIS year - now THAT'S important!

Ok - that was badddddddd - really, really bad.........probably can't even count it as a pun (but I'm gonna). What can I say? Simply can't help myself. I think it'll get a giggle out of of the friend I'll be sending it to.....wellllll, maybe a giggle and a groan...............

Yep, another Paper Smooches card using the "Vegtastic" set. Obviously - it's too cute! It's kind of a busy card but I think every element adds a little something to make a complete picture.

Paper-pieced the maters with CTMH and Cosmo Cricket (I think it's called Garden Variety - Creepella thought I was extra clever with that pick). Used Martha Stewart's picket fence and grass border punches (love them!). The sun is another punched piece of Cosmo Cricket with A Muse polka-dotted sheer ribbon. The very subtle polka-dotted background stamped on the Kraft CS itself is from PTI.

Oh I've been busy!! Sort of busy stamping but mostly celebrating...............and dragging my family along. I did some shopping, took a way-cool class and then admired all of my goodies.

Finally got to USE some of my goodies over the weekend but then I kind of forgot to take any photos and do any blog-posting........yikes!!

So here's my first card using Paper Smooches' "Friendly Flowers" - yes, that's a flower (it looks like it could be a Black-Eyed Susan sort of flower) stamped twice (I tell you, those clear stamps are so quick and easy to nifty stuff like this) and now it's a butterfly (just like magic). Sure, not a realistic-looking butterfy perhaps but a happy & fun one (my favorite kind!) AND it's a bit sparkly thanks to those handy-dandy Spicas.

Close-up of the awesome "copper" roof!!

So here's a blue bird (versus yesterday's pink bird...) - I'm please with how it turned out. I'm actually surprised the paper took the Copics so well. It's just some text-weight (well, probably a bit stiffer than regular ol' printer paper but only just.....) Kraft-looking paper with some speckles in it. I picked it up at the now-defunct Paper Zone ages ago (it was marked down ridiculously low) and have just hung onto it until it was needed.

I thought having a crimped copper roof would be snug & cozy AND add a nice bit of texture. The wood grain CS is from A Muse (been hoarding that for way too long!). And did you see the sentiment?? It's from the Birthday Buddies set but it works wonderfully well here!

FREE Digi-stamps from Paper Smooches...

I've never done digital "stamping" before.....and I know there's tons more to it than what I've done (so far). Actually, Creepella did the downloading (into PowerPoint) and printing for me. I......ahem....put the cardstock and speckled Kraft text paper into the printer so at least I helped - right?

I've done a couple of cards with the free digi-bird image (I'll post my other card tomorrow) and I'm making several cards with the new stamps themselves - I'll post when I can, but honestly it seems as if I start on one card - and WHAM......another card idea (or two) comes to mind. I've got multiple Post-It Notes on each package of stamps.....just hope I can get half of the ideas into cards before the next batch of stamps land in the mailbox.

Julie Ebersol made this card using A Muse stamps and cardstock. Well I just LOVED it - and I actually remembered I loved it and finally COPIED it with glee. I used a few different stamps and of course I couldn't help but make the little thought bubble of "Oh Crap!!" because the little penguin just looks like that's what he's thinking!!

Come on - take a closer look......aaaaah, the beautiful colors and ooooooh, the wonderful sheen of the silk................simply heavenly...........

Creepella has deemed this her FAVORITE color (of course - slime green.....)

I got a killer deal on these fibers........less than half price!! For 12-strand silk fiber - whoa Nellie!! You couldn't select the colors (which normally I wouldn't agree to - I'm too controlling and heck, it's MY money), the shop owner selected them for you (but she promised not to send duplicates) - I was very nervous AND excited and when the package arrived, I ripped into it and ooooohed and aaaaaaahed all over the place.

Working with silk is such a special treat (it's pretty pricey) - generally I work with 6-strand cotton floss (whenever it's on sale at Michaels, I stock up!). I was so excited in getting these new silk fibers, I've already started on a little something for Creepella. It's a small design and since there are no color changes it's moving along at quite a nice clip. Once I figure out how I'll finish it - pillow, framed, inset in a tray, etc. - AND finish it - I'll show you how it turns out.

Drat it another cool CTMH set that's retired (for years now)................of course I'm giddy with glee because I have it both in an acrylic and wood-mounted sets (which I don't need and will be looking to get rid of). But this card idea just popped into my head and worked out exactly how I pictured so YIPPPPEEEE!!!! Besides the border punch.....everything else is VERY old, using stuff up is a very good thing!

The house is so teeny-tiny, but I like it!! Trees are paper-pieced for some texture.....I liked it so much I decided to use the same B&T paper for the grass. Love that grass border punch from Martha Stewart too. The smoke wisp is a fine line of Diamond Stickles.

When I was just thinking of this card, I started thinking of "French Kiss".....and for anyone who remembers the movie - when Kevin Kline says "sweetie pie??".....well that's when the card idea gelled for me. So it's appropriate that while I was making some Sweetie Pie cards I had to watch "French Kiss" - love that movie, love him.....such a talented actor!!!

I made this card for MY Sweetie Pie - Chef Bo-Bo Head.........he cooks up wonderful meals and dishes, bakes treats galore. And while he doesn't fully understand the whole stamping "thing" he appreciates and encourages it - and he supports it.........literally - for V-day, partial b-day and partial Mom's Day I am now a Slice owner......it's pretty darned cool!! Oh, and he got an extra design card too - can you guess which one?? Yep, Bon Appetit - so fitting!!

The letters and pie are from the Slice (Bon Appetit), I sponged on some chalk inks to the pie for definition (gottal have a golden crust) and used some Stickles for sugar crystals. I also cut another pie out of the metallic CS for the pie tin and ta-dah, piping hot pie!!

Green For Joy

I've got a friend who absolutely detests Valentine's Day. She explained why and I see her point. She also happens to believe that Green is The Only Color one should recognize. So every Heart-Day, I make cards for my friends....usually in reds, pinks, purples - but for Joy, I ALWAYS make a GREEN card - same card design but any red/pink/purple component is done in GREEN. This year as I was finishing up the cards, Creepella popped into the stamp room just as I was working on Joy's card. She laughed and asked, "Is that Joy's card??" - then she took a closer look at it and announced, "You know mom, she's got a point....it's a cool card - green is good....I like green...." and then she just looked at me with such expectancy I was nearly at a loss for words.

But only nearly - I took a deep breath and told her to go away..................

This is basically a 4-bar sized card that duplicates the heart on the bakers twine card that I posted earlier this week......I didn't use the bakers twine here because the card was so much smaller and I just didn't like how it looked. Soooo, for these hearts, I just glued them directly onto the card - tons easier (and waaaay faster) than the whole mini glue dot ordeal!! I did the twine/jute on the rest of the cards too but I added a couple of bits of the bakers twine in the knot (replacing the green ribbon bits here).

Fast and easy "sticker" card (stamped sentiment & envelope only). Gotta love it when you can get those Martha Stewart stickers at a discount (I got these for 45% off.....they were discounted by 25% AND I had an additional 20% off coupon - happy, happy, happy!!). I pondered and pondered over these - wasn't sure if I really "needed" them - finally reason prevailed and I tossed them into my basket.

Very happy with how this card turned out - have had the lacy heart doilies for years (always seem to forget to pull them out when making V-Day cards!) and the cool border punch is from EK Success - it's not too fussy and I like that! Sentiment (Hero Arts) was a perfect fit - ahhhh, a big sigh of contentment........

This is a total knock-off of a card by Julie Ebersole. Julie's card was a Birthday (same Stampin' Up stamp set though), but all you need to do is switch out the sentiment & background stamps and there you go!! I replaced the dot on the "i" with a smallish heart gemstone to carry the love-theme a bit further and if I had a heart-themed embossing folder in my stamping arsenal, well.......can you ever go too far in a card's theme???

I'm not sure why the Kraft cards come out so crappy photgraphy-wise. It looks like a weird sickly brown/gray combo....ick. I love the look of Kraft cards and since I've "found" an entire ream of it (along with several other reams of various CS.....), I'll be using more of it. I love the spin it gives in comparison with white or cream CS.....very casual and comfy - am I making any sense here??

Anyhow here's my Inspired Creation v-day card......got the idea from Paper Crafts' "Color Inspiration" issue. Tons of cool card ideas and if mixing and matching colors isn't your thing, loads of inspiration in that area as well. Their card was monochromatic which was nice but I really wanted to make the punched hearts POP out at you so I switched out to the Kraft cardbase (I also added a ton more hearts to the bakers twine......wanted the card LOADED with hearts!).

Creepella was watching me finish up these cards and told me this was one of her top favorite cards - guess which one she'll be getting on the 14th??!!

Creepella loves the colors on this one - nontraditional I agree but ooooooh, I like it too. Trying REALLY hard to get as much use out of my stamping tools as I can. You know, being responsible, wise and moderate in my spending naturally spills over in trying to get the most use out of every purchase that is made. So you might notice a running "punched hearts" theme on many of my V-Day cards this year.

Love those PTI tag and mini stamp sets - have you seen the latest celebration set??? If I were to ever win a lottery, I would place a PTI order and just say "one of everything" please!!

It seems that I've got quite a bit of a lot.......so I'm really trying to USE some of it. I had all but forgotten about all of the Pretty Little Papers from A Muse so I've set out a couple of packages on my desk to serve as a visual reminder to myself.

CTMH Spring/Summer catty is here and my Wish List seems a mile long. However, I plan on sharing sets of the B&T paper and I'll be reviewing that Wish List on a regular basis - trying to whittle it down to a more manageable size. Haven't even seen the new Hero Arts catty (absolutely deadly for me) and I'm holding out as long as I can!!

Trying to use up the Memory Box cardbases whenever I can - while I like having a nice variety of color, I don't like a wimpy-weighted cardbase!! I like to layer B&T paper (both text-weight and lighter CS), I use foam mounting tape every chance I get so I need a substantial cardbase......Memory Box (while beautiful) aren't sturdy enough and I'm finding a lot of them are cut kind of wonky - not squared up, you know??? So now I've decided that for the most part, I'll be sticking to neutral cardbases (white, cream & Kraft)......heck, I've got tons of it already - being thrifty and all means I need to use it up before I even consider getting anything more in the way of cardbases!!

Needed to make new Valentine cards this.....I ended up with 6 designs since my card-making buddy totally flaked (yes, I'm talking to YOU Heidi......) and I think all but one card was my own design (shaking off those designing cobwebs one card at a time). Here's one of them.

Just a giant background stamp for some interest and having at it with punches and die-cuts! While it's a super simple card, it took FOREVER to complete. I love the Eliza alphabet die-cuts (I think it's retired now) - it's usually my "go-to" alphabet of choice when I think "romantic" or "elegant". Of course since I only have about 6-ish alphabets to choose from but they're all pretty different - gotta be able to fit the mood of the card, you know?

Love those Martha Stewart border punches on borders but I love how they can perk up a square layer too!! Some metallic cardstock for the key was spot-on!

Love CTMH stuff....true, this isn't the brand-BRAND new stuff, but it's still pretty new. Loved the monster stamp set as soon as I saw it (it was on my first order of that catalog....naturally). The B&T paper is soooooo pretty - I rarely "remember" to stamp on it directly but hey, this time I did!!. As you can see, the card is pretty easy and straight-forward and it's uh, very blue!!

Originally made as an anniversary card, I figured by changing the sentiment inside it would be great as a Valentine's Day card. A little masking of the kissing couple allowed for that hint of the hearts background (second generation stamping softened the ink perfectly). The extra large heart gem really screams LOVE to me.......and it's rather sparkly too!!

Darn it - I forgot to pop the envelope under the card when I took this photo......alas the card is gone (yipppee - I actually sent a card!!). I stamped a corner flourish in the red ink and inked up some "dots" in black....it tied in very well with the card. The "spotlight" was sponged in 2 shades of yellow (CTMH's Sunny Yellow and Sunflower).

I can almost hear the penguins' applause with this card (they were Thank You cards) - I love it when a card idea translates exactly how I see it in my head onto paper.....sigh......I'm a happy stamper!

This is nearly dead-on a card I saw in a Paper Craft Magazine.....I used the same PTI set but I selected a different star design and added the loopy border punch on the lime green band of CS on the front of the card and sponged the top portion to make the white cardbase pop just a little. Since you rarely see the sentiment inside (or the inside of the card at all in most magazines), the loopy border above the sentiment is my own extra touch - it brings the party INSIDE the card AND I'm trying to use every scrap of B&T paper so that it's not wasted NOR is it saved....

Just want to let someone know you're thinking about THEM - tell'em!! Repeated stamping for the "thinking of you" background and the giant "u" kinda screams at you, don't you think?? Inked (and swiped) the "u" and the exclamation point and stamped them on textured stamps and THEN stamped them on CS. After a quick trim and a bit o' ribbon - I was happy with the effect.

Love using those Martha Stewart punches over and over and over again - I know I'm getting my money's worth and it lowers the cost of the punches each time they get used (I can rationalize just about anything stamp-related!!).

Introducing "I.C." cards...

Not sure if my 3 blog readers have noticed, but it's been kind of quiet on the ol' Blog Front in the last few months. I could yammer on about being busy - but come on....pretty much EVERYONE is busy and I probably have an "average" busy-ness level of life. Sooooo it comes down to how lame a person is - or how I like to look at things.....what a person CHOOSES to do. As a stamper, I did hit a major "stampers block" and combined with a few other things, creating cards just wasn't a very high priority.

Never fear, I wasn't just lounging around eating bon-bons (although that sounds like fun)....I was pretty busy. I made several gifts for Christmas: 18 scarves (crochet); 3 pairs of earrings; and a couple of ornaments. Creepella, Heidi and I spent a few days on a "Girls Only" Vacation - loads of fun!! I worked on several stitched projects (I'm nearly finished with one....I'll post it when I'm done). Work continues to be a nightmare and I spend inordinate amounts of time there trying to shovel through the mountains of work that threaten to avalanche. By the time I get home, any hope of getting the creative juices flowing is pretty hopeless...sigh... When I don't zonk out, I'm usually doing something that doesn't require much effort (crochet or stitching) - that way I'm doing something creative (aka therapeutic) but I'm pretty much planted on the couch.

But finally, during time off after Christmas, I had a stern talk with myself and asked, "What the.....????" I have way too much $$$ invested into stamping - I need to hoist myself up off of the couch and back into the stamp room and start STAMPING. Which I tried to do - however I did little to no stamping.....I dinked around.....and dinked and dinked.......and then I finally realized I was in an official Stamping Funk - no ideas, nothing was inspiring me - zippoooooo. In desperation, my eyes flew around the stamp room - grasping at ANYTHING that would give some pathetic thread of inspiration......and my eye did spy........a stack of stamping magazines!! And so I selected 5 of them, got a pencil and pad of Post-It notes and 2 different types of tabs and looked at each page and pondered. By the time I was finished, I had MANY tabs and Post-It notes in each magazine.

I've wrestled with the idea of "copying" cards......nearly hanging my head in shame - but Creepella put a clever spin on things - she reminded me that I get the magazines because I enjoy looking at other cards and stampers get inspired from one another so I'm not really "copying" cards......they're "inspiring" me - and so they'll now be known as I.C. (Inspired Cards). I'm hoping to get my act together enough so that I'll also include the magazine or blog listing for each I.C. card.

This card was inspired by one that I saw on a blog.....but I think instead of the letters in the circle tabs there were hearts and the sentiment said something about "love".

Hoping to get back into the Stamping Saddle on a regular basis - we shall see.......

In July, I took the classes Julie Ebersole taught at The Paper Garden. We did the the base of this card (uhm, the coral, the blue rectangle and shells) for a cute stationery set. For the set, we made 4 identical cards and a few other items that all fit nicely in a stationery box - honestly I had no idea what the class was....I just signed up for ALL of Julie's classes (after stamping for nearly 18 years, only once in a while do I ever learn some NEW nifty cool trick in any class but mostly I think of Julie's classes as dinner & a floor show....entertainment well worth the price!!).

And as I so often do - I digress.......when I got home with all of my loverly cards from class - I promptly started cutting things up from the stationery set (darling as it was, I knew I wouldn't use it or would I give it away.....so basically I had some really expensive "scraps") and then started messing around with the cards as well....and this is the result.

Stupid PIXEL crap..........

I'm soooooooo disappointed that I can't enter the Sublime Stitching Combo Contest thingy. Because of pixels.....PIXELS.......friggin' pixels I tell you...........who gives a rats ass about the flippin' amount of PIXELS????? I don't care - I don't even know what PIXELS are all I know is that apparently I have tooooooo many of them..............so IIIIIII can't enter this stooooopid contest (gosh, do I sound a tad bit bitter????).

So, after SLAVING away on this "project", I had to put it somewhere (besides Creepella's room - it's going to be made into a pillow - and she wants it..........probably just for the skull-factor). So instead of blogging a card today - you've stumbled upon my "Rat Dream" nightmare!! Does anyone get the whole "Rat Dream" reference?? Any "Willow" fans out there???

So the contest was to use 3 different pattern sets from Sublime Stitching's line of transfer patterns (I used the rat from "Gothic", the cat from "Cat-A-Rama" and the meat selections from "Meaty Treats"). Chef Bo-B0 Head and Creepella helped out with the design portion (yes, we are a sick leeetle family) and then I found The Purrfect ORANGE skull material to stitch on and and Ta-Dahhhhhhh!!!

This card is deceptively SIMPLE in design but it took me literally HOURS to create. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I'm not able to do any stamping Monday through Thursday (and through August my non-stamping extends to Friday evenings too). Thankfully my family picks up most of the slack on the weekend so that I can get in some concentrated stamping time. Which would be cool if I had any friggin' ideas..........yes folks I've been part of a weird scientific experiment. All these years I've spouted off to new stampers "The more you stamp, the more the ideas you'll get!" Over the last couple of months, I've proven my hypothesis.....yes indeedy, my Theory is a fact!!

The less I stamp the fewer ideas I have popping into my brain. Quite depressing really.........

Hence the hours it took to create this card........geez, hope it sells!!

This card idea came from a magazine......and I'm too far away from my stamp room (and too lazy) to go and try to track it down. Anyhow, when I browse through stamp magazines (sadly I have NO current subscriptions), I usually have some Post-It notes or tab markers to make notes regarding card designs that catch my fancy. I almost never COPY a card in its entirety but I love taking bits & bobs from here & there and creating something excitingly new.

The card inspiration? The ribbon....kind of looks like cherry blossoms. I whipped out my handy-dandy Asian-looking "Unforgettable" paper pack from CTMH and I was in business.

The card is pretty simple, I used a border & corner punch for texture, sponged the remaining straight lines of the B&T panel and added the ribbon. The double-layered flower punch is popped out with foam tape for some dimension.

Puny Pun-Puns..........I'm a sucker for them..............

This stamp set (from PTI) has been languishing on my shelf for too long - since I needed to make a "Get Well" card for our up-coming card release, I finally had a good excuse to use this baby!!

Coupled with Basic Grey's Lily Kate B&T paper, WOW - the card just fell together. Oh and the ribbon - I love, Love, LOVE the two-tone ribbon.....no matter how it's tied, it always looks great!!

In just a little while Creepella and I will be meeting Heidi, my cousins and my cousin's daughters at the theater and we will be partaking in a "Twilight" marathon - we'll be watching Twilight, then New Moon and then finally (at midnight) we'll see be seeing the first showing of Eclipse.....and how cool is this.....popcorn, pretzels & Icees for dinner. Yumm-O!!

I know we'll have a blast and I also know that it takes me longer to bounce back after a movie marathon (especially if it involves a midnight movie) - I'll be taking a bit of break from blogging, I' be back on Sunday...........happy stamping!!

Saw the punched borders in different cardstock colors in a new card magazine and really liked the look. Since I had this new Martha seashell border punch just about screaming to be used, well - really, I had no choice!!

I did all of the punching of the cardstock and then layered it as I liked, glued it all together and then cut it into 2-inch "strips" (I made 5 cards). The cardstock and B&T paper is from CTMH (it's a retired paper pack but since all CTMH paper packs coordinate, the possibilities are only limited to your punch selection). Since A Muse's "Seas The Day" sentiment was the starting point to the card (well, right after wanting to do the whole punched rows of course), I knew I wanted to do an ocean theme. How good of Martha to make available the seashell border and the sand dollar punch!!

Weird Confession: When I was little and would read The Three Little Pigs, I was absolutely terrified for them because that stupid wolf wouldn't leave them alone. I kept telling my parents we should live a brick house (they had no idea why I developed such a love for brickwork) - as we drove around, I would point out brick houses and expound on the virtues of the brick-ness of the house. No, we never did live in a brick house...and thankfully we never had a wolf huffing & puffing at our door.

Here's a "Tent Topper" card - from Splitcoasters. Isn't it funny how you can do the very same thing and never give it a name and find it later with an "official" title. That's how it is with this card - I've made several cards constructed like this through-out the years and now it has a name (go figure). The only problem with this card is you can't really put it into the protective sleeve AND have it open and close. I have to stamp the inside sentiment on printer paper and attach it to the back of the protective sleeve so our customers know what the heck the card says inside. It's worth the extra work since customers always like a little twist on the card construction.

I let the colors in B&T paper dictate how I colored Cuppie and the cake. A glaze pen made the frosting glisten and Spicas added shimmer to the fire and puff of air from Cuppie. I did a bit of sponging on the edges of the scalloped circle to add some definition. Popping out the scalloped circle with foam tape (cracked open my new roll that I received for mom's day.....it feels so luxurious to have a giant roll of foam tape next to you....) added a nice bit of dimension and the sheer ribbon made the card complete.

There's a blog that I look at fairly regularly (I think it's called flowerbugs inkspot)- she does some really cool "punch art". She's a Stampin' Up demonstrator so naturally the punches she uses are from S.U. That's fine since I have quite a few of them too and I really enjoy it when you can use a punch in a multitude of ways.

She showcased the above idea in a different way.....she used a stamp for the cattail grass and she had a bird from one of the new S.U. diecuts instead of the butterfly. The two things that caught my eye: the use of the small slot punch for the fuzzy cattail and the softly sponged background. I added a bit of ribbon and changed out the sentiment (her card was a Sympathy card).

My card has the sponged background (wipe the sponge, don't do the daubing motion), since I didn't have a big grass stamp (the largest stamp was not big enough), I just used a Memento marker (brush tip) to make the grass. I punched the beige Stardream CS for the cattail fuzzies (had a deep bronze-brown too but that was too dark).

I made this card for a friend who's father has recently died (instead of a sympathy card - she's not wild about sympathy cards). I like the calmness of the card, the soft colors and it seems as if those cattails will start swaying at any time.

This card makes me think of my mom and even though she's gone, I think she would have liked this card (she would have told me how clever I was....) - today is her birthday....I miss her a lot.

Today and tomorrow I'll be showing a couple of the Father's Day cards I came up....of course I didn't get them posted BEFORE Father's Day but as you'll see, these cards can be used for other occasions too.

I think something very similar to this card may have been on the A Muse website at one time, I really don't remember. But I was having such a hard time coming up with card ideas for Father's Day cards this year, I started to "browse" through my stamps. I have them in different categories for several reasons - one of them is for browsing ease. There are lots of different ways I come up with card ideas. Yep, one of them is just looking at stamps. Sometimes the finished card pops into my head and all I need to do is pull stamps, ink, cardstock, B&T paper, punches and off I go. That's pretty much what happened with this card. I was looking through some of my "people" stamps and this super hero just LEAPED out at me.......a couple minutes later, I was working on the card.

Very cool when the idea in my head works itself into a decent card.

Another spinner card.....they're so much fun to make and since it was Debbie's b-day, well there you go. The B&T paper is ancient - have had it for years but it works well with the cake sticker. I used a QuicKutz candle die and did a bit of stamping and there's the card.

Creepella's Thank You for her graduation cards and gifts. I asked her what she wanted design-wise, here's her response: "A skull, red and black and 'Thank You'". When I prompted her with the idea of the Graduation Cap on the skull and a bit of ribbon to soften it, she said sure......as long as it was BLACK ribbon. Well, I guess she knows what she likes, right???

I was so pleased with how well the skull stamped & embossed up (and grunged up with some chalk ink sponging) for the Spinner Card, I decided to use it again.......34 cards later, I'm about done with this stamp for a good long while - whew!!

Made Her Cry

Believe me when I say this photo does NOT do justice to the card. It's made from Stardream so there's a constant shimmer, the butterfly is actually a brown (not that blah grey) color and I've used Spicas to add MORE bits of shimmer. Sponged the clouds because I wanted the butterfly to be in flight (to go along with the sentiment) and I used Creepella's FAVORITE type of swirly ribbon to finish it off.

This was her graduation card and the mushy stuff I wrote inside did indeed make her cry. I'm usually not a mushy-gooey person IN person or in speech but give me a pen and a piece of paper (or a keyboard) and I can go to town. I guess it's easier (you have more time to think) and it's safer (at least until you actually turn over the written sentiment to the recipient). Unfortunately, no matter how I tried I couldn't find the words to describe the depth of love, pride and awe my daughter inspires...but I guess I got close enough.........

A BIG Celebration!

Do you remember turning 18?? I do....and a week after I graduated from high school I had moved out and had gotten a full-time job. NOT the future I want for my daughter by any stretch of the imagination. Her dad and I have gone to great (and expensive) pains hoping to keep her at home and in school. Currently she doesn't have the mindset to traipse off to college, she's pretty nestled down here at home and is happy (and more importantly EAGER) to attend a local college. That's more than ok with me - I shudder to think at how much I'd miss her.

When I found this stair-step card tutorial (yes, it's another one from Splitcoasters), I made one for a b-day celebration. As soon as Creepella saw this (in March), she said, "Mom, I'd BETTER get one of these cards for my birthday week!!" Ahhhh - I've raised a spoiled brat - I'm so proud!!

Here's a quiz - do you see any stamping??? Well there's a wee bit on the card but mostly, MOSTLY it's an entire package of 3-D stickers strategically placed through-out the steps. Bright pink for my baby girl and ta-dahhhh, we're done!!

Weird sideways photo (making up for that pesky thing called gravity) of the pocket mostly slid out....

Back again this week for a few more cards. Love pocket cards, they're so fun and easy and....... I very rarely remember to make them. What's up with that?? I find a new card and blaze through several designs until I find the next NEW card and the cycle starts again.

This card was quick and easy to make since I use some flower "left-overs", the only thing I had to do was a bit of stamping, a few quick punches with Martha's grass border punch and toss in a bit of ribbon and some gemstones. It was nearly as quick to make as it was to describe.

Here's my only 3 x 3 card......took about 5 minutes since I had the penguin stamped, colored and cut out!! Used a scrap piece of CS and added some ribbon, stamped the sentiment in black and Ta Dahhhhhh - it's done!

While this is actually a 4-bar sized card, it took quite a bit of time to create due to the experimentation (punched one edge of the green Stardream CS, flipped it over and keeping the punch going in the same leaf "direction" and staggering the starting area, punched the CS again to create a "vine") with the Martha Stewart's new branch border punch. When I finally got the the right spacing it came together really quickly. Just a bit of stamping on the card, but it makes a nice finish.

This is a "Wiper" card - found it on the Splitcoast Stampers site. There are TONS of excellent ideas and tutorials on that website. I am horrid at following written directions but if a few photos are added, then I'm good to go. I have a large binder completely devoted to various tutorials/ideas that I've found on Splitcoasters. If you ever have "stampers block" - go to that website and your head will be absolutely spinning with ideas!!

How's that for a card intro?? Ironic that I had planned on making cute, small and simple cards for Creepella's b-day week and ended up making several interactive cards (this wiper card being the first one). Don't you just love how the wiper part just pops up as a fun surprise?? I was so enamored with these cards I made one for Chef Bo-Bo Head (a baking-inspired b-day card) and then I made 20 party invitations for Creepella's b-day/grad party (the wiper pop-up was a skull with a graduation cap.....really turned out well). For this card, I thought the kitters would be a great theme and not surprisingly, I had just the right kitty B&T handy. The little orange butterfly hanging out with "Bob" started making an appearance in several of the b-day card week cards.......she likes butterflies, I like orange - it was perfect!!

Had these little penguins stamped, colored and cut out for ages.......and I've had this "bubbly birthday wishes" for quite a long time too. What finally prompted me to use these items? Needing 6 new cards in 6 days was a great nudger.....

Used a few circle punches and punched some additional bubbles out of Stardream CS and then of course globbed on so much Stickles that you can't tell about the Stardream.....oh well. Can you see the bubbles that I stamped oh-so subtly on the cardbase??? It's VERY subtle....probably too subtle....... But I liked how it turned out and I think I'll make a few to put into the "For Sale" basket and see how they do.

Wow, been busy and sick and busy and POOF, like the above blow fish, there goes your month!!

Card 1 of the B-day Week for Creepella. It's such a cute stamp and one of those really CHEAP stamps at Michael's.......on a trip there in early May, I found 8 adorable designs (all mostly an "oceany" theme) that I had to add to my collection - at this point this one is the only one that I've used. Creepella liked it so much I ended up getting one for her for her b-day week (how convenient). The trickiest part of Mr. Blow fish? Cutting out all of his spinney-goodness....but it was definitely worth the effort. The wavy B&T paper was a perfect fit and luckily I had a piece just the perfect size after I trimmed the top off of the waves. I popped out the fins with foam tape to make the fish "hold" the balloon strings........pretty clever, eh??

Well, it's good to be back and whew, what a relief to have a few cards to share over the next couple of weeks. Hope some of them will inspire you (or at least make you giggle!!).

A Tisket A Tasket

Oh that was fun to type - the next time I get a pair of sibling kitters, I'm naming them Tisket and Tasket......man, I hope I remember that when the time comes!!

This was my attempt at being Springy.....I think it worked. Aren't those little gifties in the picnic basket cute?? And Clever??? Remember the Stampin' Up pick-up truck's accessories? Well, this gifties stamp is from that set. A little masking and wow, that's a whole lot of gifties just ready to pop from the basket!!

For this card, I used loads of stuff but it all ties in together pretty well. I stamped the basket itself onto some B&T paper and then used a couple of Copics to add some shadows, using the Martha Stewart grass border punch on some BasicGrey B&T paper makes the grass pretty lively. The B&T from Chloe's closet has a few sheets that can be cut as strips or borders - how convenient, don't you think?? Those handy dandy Marvy punches are a mainstay for me and so ding-dang handy, they're worth their bulkiness!!

Mom's Day Card #5

Ok, I admit it - this card looks as if a flower fairy had a bit of indigestion and womited up her lunch.

But I try and keep in mind that not everyone has my simpler-is-better design taste and that maybe, just MAYBE someone will love, Love, LOVE this card (and buy it).......the design definitely didn't transfer from my head to my hand what I intended but after using the border floral punch on the precious Kioshi paper, I was committed and I'm no quitter (unless I'm tired or it's too hard or I might sweat......).

Staying positive - I really do like the Kioshi paper from BasicGrey so I guess that makes up for most everything else. That and if you mostly squint, it doesn't look quite as busy (or like flower fairy womit...)!!
