Soup's On

Cardbase - Memory Box; Get Well Soup stamp - All Night Media; Inks - CTMH & Memento; Copics & Spicas; Marvy punches

Ok, this will be the last of the "get well" line for a while. But hey - here's yet another card where I've created a subtle B&T paper with the same stamp. Not much to say....except I'm finding that I really enjoy making Get Well cards - I try to make them humorous so a little cheering up can be done along side the whole notion that someone is thinking of you. It just feels good, you know?

Perhaps I should get busy on making some MENTAL Get Well cards......I know some peeps that could use them right about now. I'll have to let my mind wander and see what I can come up with.

Been busy the last couple of weeks on Mom's Day cards - I'll post some of my favorites next week. Until then - have a spendid weekend & have some chicken noodle soup........it's good for what ails you (unless you're a chicken of course!).

Bare Humor

Cardbase - Stampin Up CS; Inks - Memory Box; Markers & Liquid Glass - CTMH; Stamps - KatieBug (I think!!)

Remember how I said in one of my earlier posts how much I enjoy "funny" stamps? Well, this is what I consider a funny stamp. I've had it for YEARS (purchased it unmounted at a local rubber stamp convention - that's why I'm not positive of the manufacturer). And while I know there are some people that wouldn't appreciate this card....luckily for me, the recipients so far have appreciated the humor and the sincere wishes of speedy recovery that were sent along with the semi-tacky image!!

Lately I've had several requests for VERY specialized cards. Since I'm lucky enough (or crazy enough - it's debatable...) to have a wide variety of stamp images, I've been able to accommodate all serious requests thus far. I've been toying with the idea of posting a couple of the cards - but of course I'm fretting about offending anyone who happens to stumble onto our blog. So I'm still on the fence as to whether or not to post. Perhaps I should have another blog for my "baser" card designs (knowing my luck - that one will get more traffic!!).

I'm thinking if Heidi has read all of this so far, she's already on the phone to me now demanding to know what the heck I'm TALKING about!! It really is quite a lot of fun toying with my friends who consider themselves "on-a-need-to-know-basis"!!!

The Best Medicine

Cardbase & Dr. Penguin - Memory Box; Medical bag & "laughter is the best medicine" & oval shadow - A Muse; various "ha, ha's" & ink - CTMH; Memento Inks; Copics & Spicas; B&T paper - "Slab" from Michaels
Why is it that laughter seems to be a cure-all for almost anything that ails you? I mean even the manic-desperate type of laughter is good for you. Sometimes we get to laughing so hard dignity is tossed out amid the snorting, honking, gasping, wheezing, tears, and of course, the painful clenching of rarely-used abdominal muscles. I guess a good release is just, well.....plain good. Love those Memory Box penguins for their sly humor - oh sure they LOOK all innocent, but underneath those layers of blubber there's a stand-up comedian just waiting for the spot-light!
Bring on another dose of laugher Doc Penguin - I think we ALL could use it!

Cooties!

Cardstocks, inks & markers - CTMH; Stamp - All Night Media; Stickles

Ok, here's another example where I've made B&T paper by stamping and stamping and stamping. I think I had to stamp that image about a gazillion times (per card!! and it didn't stop there.....no sireeeeee - I also stamped the envelope with the Cootie Trio). Anyhow, I liked how it turned out and apparently so did several customers as this was one design that not only SOLD OUT, but I've received requests for MORE cards to be made. Maybe it's just that people like to say COOTIES!!!

My most humble apologies - this is SUCH a lame photo - sooooo washed out AND shadowy. Hey, I'm card-maker, not a photographer!!

Something Yummy

Stamps - A Muse; Inks - Memento; Copics; Cardstock & Liquid Glass - CTMH; Stickles; Cuddlebug's Swiss Dot Embossing folder; Marvy Oval Punch; Stampin' Up punch

You know as much as I LOVE paper, I find myself creating my own B&T paper a lot. I mean when you have a stamp set sitting in front of you with tons of coordinated stamps in various sizes - how could you NOT make your B&T paper? I guess what I like most of all, I can customize the B&T to be EXACTLY what I want and need it to be. I've been told I have a wee bit of a control issue - whatever......
I'll have to root around for some more photos of other created B&T cards - then we'll see about those control issues!!

Oceans of Fun

Cardbase- Memory Box; B&T and cardstock - CTMH; Sentiment - Hero Arts; Scallop Circle Punch - Marvy; Crab, Sand-dollar & seahorses - Martha Stewart; Ink - Memento; Stickles

Thought the small circles on the B&T paper might look like bubbles so it would go well with my "ocean" card. I'm liking those Martha punches - loads to choose from and when Michaels has them at a 30% discount...they speak to me!!

So purrrrrrrdy...

I don't know much about plant/flower/tree names....I just know what I like to look at....and I like looking at these trees. I call them "Tulip Trees" and I'm not sure if someone told me that's what they're called or if I made it up (because I tend to do make up names for things....even characters in books when I have no hope at a proper pronounciation...poor authors - all their hard work flies out the window when I get my hands on their work).

Anyhow - I really do like these trees. I requested one for the front lawn - positioned so that I could see it from my desk (which doesn't make any sense since most of the time I'm stamping at night.....). How weird is the front lawn going to look.....all barren except for the Tulip Tree, 3 Birch trees, several bushes and shubberies all clumped together??? Oh well, my lawn.............my clumpiness!!

Late Hare

Card base - Memory Box; Stamps - Stampin' Up & A Muse; Inks - Memento & CTMH; B&T (scalloped oval) - CTMH; Yellow B&T - A Muse; Copics, Spicas & Stickles

I find myself gravitating towards "funny" belated b-day cards. Most likely because I'm slightly embarrassed at not getting the card to the recipient in a timely fashion (yesssssssss, the CARD-maker can't get the card there on time...). But hey, if it makes them laugh (or better yet, snort a little) and they know that I really AM thinking of them..........it's all good!!!

Bob's Cousin?

I just looked at these lemurs and laughed......the one in front looks like a black & white Bob....well, he's at least POSING like Bob (Bob would probably have a bit of tail-envy).
It was a good day at the zoo - sunny and not too crowded. Most of the animals were out sunning themselves so it was a great opportunity for photos. Creepella and Chef Bo-Bo Head were good sports and did some posing for me as well (of course I was using the "It's My Birffffday" card all over the place...).
A lovely day - slept in, opened gifties, had yumm-O cheeseburgers, fries, & onion rings - the 3 of us split one burger, one order of fries, one shake and two orders of onion rings...hung out at the zoo for a couple of hours (although we didn't have any snicky-snacks there - we're not complete pigs!!). We popped over to a little market that I've been wanting to browse, found some treasures there and then awayed ourselves to the movies (saw Paul Blart - Mall Cop...and since I'm into teenage boy humor, I found the movie very enjoyable and am seriously thinking of adding it to my personal DVD library)....there we did indulge in copious amounts of popcorn (Creepella and I had BUTTERED popcorn too) and cola icees.......came home and after a couple of hours we ate some sushi and then a few hours after that, I finished up some left-over cheesecake (thanks again for the coupon Heidi - we spent enough to get TWO slices of free cheesecake!!).....like I said, quite a lovely day!!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Cardbase - Memory Box; Stamps - CTMH & Hero Arts; Inks - Versafine, CTMH & Colorbox; Copics & Spicas; EK Success Shamrock punch; Marvy Heart punch; Stardream gold CS; Ribbon
Another "Scrap-City" card.......gosh I just love little stamps and bits & pieces of pretty scrap-paper. I think these types of ingredients are the most fun to play with when creating cards.
Happy St. Patty's Day -- hope your day is oh so GREEEEN!!

"Lucky" Guy

Stamps - Memory Box Penguin & CTMH sentiment; Colorbox & Versafine Inks; Copics; Marvy Scallop punch; Misc - B&T paper, 3M mounting tape; confetti from Michaels

This MB penguin was one of my first penguin purchases - he's so versatile - he can hold pretty much ANYTHING!!

Shamrock Trio

Cardbase - Memory Box; Stamps - A Muse & Stampendous!; Ink - Versafine; Copics & Stickles; Marvy Scallop punch; Misc Scraps - B&T Paper, CS panel & ribbon
Simple card but every time I see it - I think of a flag.....does it look like a flag to anyone else?? This is definitely a "scrap" card. Aside from the cardbase itself.....everything else was from the mountain of scraps that I lovingly contribute to with most any project I create.

Rainbow's End

Cardbase - Memory Box; Stamp - PSX (I think...); Versafine Ink; CTMH Markers; Marvy Punches; Misc - B&T paper, CS panel & ribbon

Inside there's a Stampin' Up sentiment about friendship being at the rainbow's end. I've had that set for years and I think I use that sentiment EVERY year - it's pretty darned fitting.

Today I'm continuing the b-day celebration.... Heidi and I will be having a yummy lunch (and dessert!!) and a delightfully long full-blown gab-fest (no work, kids or spouses seeking our attention)......and some stamping gifties for me (!!!!).....can't get much better than THAT!!

Soaking Up The Sun

Getting ready for the weekend......my advice - listen to the Red Panda. Eat a little, & then relax in the sun - life is short (and even if it isn't), ENJOY!!

Lucky Horseshoes

Cardbase - Memory Box; Stamps - A Muse & Michael's $1.00 selection; May Arts Ribbon; Inks - CTMH, Versafine & Colorbox; Spica & Stickles; Marvy Punches; Green textured CS from The Paper Garden

My advice - gold emboss the horseshoes (but use the gold detail embossing powder) - that would definitely make them pop AND give some "gold competition" to the Stickled "good luck". The reason I didn't emboss is because well................I've misplaced my heat gun(s) - they're packed away - quite safe and sound and completely lost amongst all of the other boxes in the garage. One of these days, one of these days!!
