Floral Friday - Star Fighter Lily

True Confessions:  I've taken one floral class recently (and received an "A") and I don't know why these are called "Star Fighter" instead of "Star Gazer"???  They look the same to me, they're just as pricey and well, they're just as stunning........

Anyhow - I created a HUGE bouquet of these babies for a co-worker for her b-day (she's a fan of the Star Gazers and she didn't say ANYTHING about the Gazer/Fighter thing....).  Fighter/Gazer - whatever....I do love fiddling around with fresh flowers!

Up close they look a bit frightful - Creepella and I think they look rather alien-like......but that's just us!

A Banner Year

On our red wall, we did a smidge of decoration with a b-day banner.......

The "50th" was specifically made for Gail (when we celebrated her half-Century celebration).  I love making banners but whoa are they time-consuming (or is it just me???).  I was able to cross-craft.....stamping AND a bit of crochet (a chain stitch to hang the letters).

This year I plan on making a bright (and generic) b-day banner that we can use repeatedly AND that can be used for both girls and boys......this one is a bit frou-frou I know...  Bright colors against the red wall will be oh-so festive.....now I just need to get hopping!

Going Through It...

What an appropriate sentiment for SOOO many occasions.  I've used this stamp for years - I love it and the cards I make with it are appreciated AND give the recipients a bit of a chuckle.

Can't ask for much more than that!

It's a pretty simple card, stamped the sentiment on a panel of red CS, matted that onto some orange CS, added a wide-ish strip of red CS vertically and that was all on top of the "flames" B&T which was layered on a yellow CB.  I think it took longer to cut the paper pieces than it did to actually make the card!

Stamps - oh yikes, I don't remember!
CS - CTMH & PTI
Flames B&T - old stuff, I don't recall the manufacturer.

My Type

Been wanting to do this card for over a year now.....I think I saw something with the typewriter on the Hero Arts blog?  Anyhow, I thought it would be perfect for a Thank You Card - right??   And then the B&T paper was pretty darned perfect-O......sigh......

I used a bit of foam tape on just the top-middle portion of the "page" to give it a little lift and dimension.  And of course I was a bit tricksy with it - I doubled the amount of foam tape at the very top to angle the page dramatically (ok, not so dramatically but IRL you can tell a difference!).

Truly Hideous

Not EVERYTHING was beautiful in my floral design class......during one class lab we created this....

Which, in my opinion seemed to get worse the closer you got......

Seriously I don't believe anyone would actually PAY for this - would they????

Oh well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.............(maybe the beholder needs glasses!!)

Cozy Home

I'm beyond smitten......truly I am - I am over the top with these stamps and this window die.  Both are from Taylored Expessions .......sigh.  I started my T.E. collection with the very first offering of the "Cuppie" line.....while I don't purchase on a regular basis I HAVE made it a point to make a large purchase during their Black Friday sale.  I purchased the "View" stamps and the window dies during last year's Black Friday sale and I have to say that I am sooooo pleased with my purchases.  The only thing that I'm NOT wild about - T.E. stamps are cling-mounted red rubber so they stamp a great impression but I really miss the "clear" factor of acrylic stamps.  Also, T.E. stamps do NOT have an index with/on top of their stamps which doesn't seem like a big deal but for me it IS.

Sorry for the slightly wonky angle but you get the idea.....

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd I just love the kitters on the rug - makes such a cozy home!!
